Chaudhary Foundation And Nabil Bank Unveil Rs 150 Million Multi-Phase Relief and Rehabilitation Plan for Flood Victims

Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank have announced a comprehensive, multi-phase relief and rehabilitation program for communities affected by the devastating floods in Rasuwa, with the overall initiative estimated to cost approximately Rs 150 million.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the flood that struck Rasuwa on Bhadra 10, Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank extended their solidarity to the affected communities. They also expressed heartfelt condolences to families who lost their loved ones and wished safety, courage and a speedy recovery for those affected.

The joint initiative aims to address the immediate needs of affected families while supporting their transition from emergency relief to temporary housing, permanent rehabilitation and long-term community resilience.

Phase 1: Immediate Relief and Healthcare Support

Under the first phase, Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank have started distributing food, essential supplies and health-related materials to flood-affected families.

The relief packages include ready-to-eat food, drinking water, biscuits, clothing, tarpaulins, personal hygiene products, and other essential items. Relief materials have been reaching affected areas since Bhadra 11, with employees of both organizations mobilized at the local level to support the distribution process.

As part of the immediate response, two organized relief camps will be established in Nuwakot and Rasuwa in coordination with the local administration.

The camps will provide daily meals and essential support to affected communities. In collaboration with Dhulikhel Hospital, Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank will also operate health camps providing primary healthcare, disease prevention and health awareness services.

The relief camps will additionally provide safe spaces for children, clean drinking water and necessary sanitation facilities to help protect vulnerable communities during the recovery period.

Phase 2: Construction of 500 Temporary Housing Units

The second phase of the initiative will focus on constructing 500 temporary housing units for families whose homes have been destroyed or made uninhabitable by the floods.

The organizations will work in coordination with the government and local governments to provide safe, organized, and dignified temporary accommodation until permanent reconstruction can be completed.

The temporary housing units will be based on proven construction technology previously used by the Chaudhary Foundation during earthquake relief and rehabilitation efforts in Nepal.

Long-Term Support for Permanent Shelter and Infrastructure
Beyond immediate relief and temporary housing, the initiative will also support the reconstruction of permanent shelters and essential community infrastructure in affected areas.

The organizations have emphasized that the rehabilitation effort will extend beyond providing emergency assistance, with a focus on helping affected communities rebuild safer and more resilient lives.

As part of its long-term public health commitment, the program will collaborate with Dhulikhel Hospital to establish a Center for Infectious Disease Prevention and Control.

The center will support disease surveillance and identification, preventive healthcare, public awareness, and institutional capacity building. It will also help strengthen preparedness for infectious diseases and potential outbreaks that may emerge following floods and other disasters.

The organizations said the objective is to ensure that assistance reaches the most affected and vulnerable families in a transparent, effective and systematic manner.

The initiative represents a continuation of the shared commitment of Chaudhary Foundation and Nabil Bank to support Nepali communities during times of national crisis and contribute to building safer, healthier and more disaster-resilient communities.
