Birgunj Mayor Rajesh Man Singh Arrested by Police
The Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Rajesh Man Singh, was arrested by police Tuesday morning after spending 10 days on the run. A special police team tracked him down and apprehended him from a hideout in Thori, Parsa.
The arrest follows a warrant issued by the Parsa District Court on May 22, which was prompted by a formal complaint filed by a local resident, Liyakat Ali. The court had ordered the District Police Office to find and present Mayor Singh, along with three other individuals, to face legal charges.
According to Raju Karki, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Mayor Singh faces serious charges involving the forgery of government documents. He is accused of falsifying official signatures to help a young woman illegally obtain a birth certificate, citizenship papers, and a passport.
Following his arrest this morning, police confirmed that the Mayor will be presented before the district court later today to face the legal proceedings against him.
