Bichuten Data Vault (BDV) has announced plans to build Nepal’s first Tier IV Hyper Scale Data Center to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and AI sovereignty.

Led by a group of Nepali entrepreneurs, the project will establish data centers in Kathmandu and Birgunj with an initial capacity of 240 kilowatts, expandable to 5 megawatts by 2030.

The Tier IV-certified facility will ensure 99.995 percent uptime and support critical sectors such as banking and telecommunications. BDV has partnered with global technology firms, including Google Cloud, AMD, Micron, and VVDN Technologies, for technical expertise.

Powered entirely by Nepal’s hydropower, the project also aims to create employment in the IT and engineering sectors while promoting in-country data storage to enhance national security and reduce dependence on foreign servers.
