Bhola Nath Chalise passes away

KATHMANDU:

Former industry secretary and renowned economist Bhola Nath Chalise passed away while undergoing treatment at Nepal Medical College Attarkhel, Kathmandu today morning.

Chalise, who had retired from government service about one-and-a-half decades ago, had also served as chairman of Nepal Electricity Authority. He was active as an opinion maker and an expert in liberalisation.

Since last year, he had been suffering from kidney-related problems and was undergoing regular treatment.

He had obtained a doctorate degree from University of Vienna, Austria in ‘Liberal Economy’. He had introduced Foreign Investment and Technology Act to attract foreign investment in Nepal during his tenure as industry secretary.

Chalise was 65 years old. He is survived by his wife and four sons
