Bheri-Babai project construction begins

BIRENDRANAGAR:

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has laid a foundation stone to the Bheri-Babai Diversion project, a mega project of national pride, amidst a programme at Hattikhal of Surkhet district on Thursday. PM Koirala urged all sectors to help create a favourable atmosphere for smooth construction of the project. The mega project has aimed at irrigating land and generating electricity. For this, water from Bheri River would be diverted through 12-km long tunnel to the Babai River. The project would directly benefit people from Bardiya, Banke and Surkhet districts of the mid-western region. -
