The Supreme Court (SC) has allowed the Hira Ratna Hydropower Development Project to advance its construction works.
The apex court ruling in response to a writ filed by Dupcheswor Conservation Society has cleared the deck for the construction of hydropower project. The writ was registered at the Supreme Court (SC) to prevent hydropower project works being constructed in the Tadi rivulet at Shikharbesi and Samundratar VDCs of the district.
Kumar Pandit on behalf of the Dupcheswor Conservation Society petitioned writ seeking interim order in a bid to prevent the hydropower construction works in the Tadi rivulet citing the ups and downs in the water current in the rivulet would affect the religious site Dupcheswor Temple.
A divisional bench of SC's Chief Justice Kalyan Shretha and justice Jagadish Sharma Poudel issued the order allowing the construction works stating it was not necessary to give interim order in response to the writ on November 15. RSS
