Market in correction mode on the first trading day of the year ; Index dwindles by 45.52 points with turnover above Rs 1.21 arba

On the first trading day of the year 2074 B.S., the benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has declined by 45.52 points or 2.68% to close at 1651.61 points. NEPSE Index opened at 1698.01 points today, the local bourse went up to 1702.80 in the first trading hour of the day and was seen fluctuating afterward. The sensitive index, that measures weighted price change of Group A companies has decreased by 10.20 points today (2.78%). index 189,147 units shares of Nepal Credit and Commerce Limited (NCCB) and 82,866 units shares of Prabhu Bank Limited (PRVU) were traded the most today. Gurkhas Finance Limited (GUFL) hit positive circuit today. Nepal Credit and Commerce Bank limited (NCCB) and Gurans Life Insurance Company Limited (GLICL) had the highest turnover of Rs 8.41 crore and Rs 5.21 crore respectively. The number of transactions of NCCB and GLICL reached 589 and 264. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 1.21 arba where more than 16.87 lakh units shares were traded through 7,916 transactions. Sensitive index and float index decreased 10.2 and 3.63 points respectively. All sectors landed in red zone today.
